I am thrilled to have landed at The Nest after working in early childhood education in various capacities for the past 25 years. I believe it’s important that all children be seen as fully formed people–not merely “practice adults”- who deserve respect and a place in this world as every other person. My goal as an educator is for each child to feel seen and heard and to possess a sense of belonging. I place a great deal of emphasis on social-emotional learning and helping children form relationships and develop communication skills as they discover themselves as both individuals and members of a global community. I have a background in art, music, and theater, and I encourage students to be creative and curious by integrating visual and performing arts into the curriculum (there’s a lot of singing!).
I have a deep-seated belief in the importance of early childhood education and its important role as the foundation of a successful, joyful, and meaningful school experience. I hope to help students feel a sense of pride and ownership in their learning process by allowing them to discover things on their own and guiding them through exploring their own interests. I feel very fortunate to be able to do this work outside in the natural world–it’s the best toy, playground, and teacher of all!
